On resting and recharging, creating space, keeping quiet and taking my own advice (aka Im Taking A Break) - When I Grow Up

On resting and recharging, creating space, keeping quiet and taking my own advice (aka Im Taking A Break) - When I Grow Up Yknow the saying that what makes you crazy about other people is something that you hold within/about yourself? Its why jealousy and comparison can lead to good things, like recognizing your Big Dreams. Its why your triggers can show you your values, like being annoyed at someones lateness really means that Respect for Others is something you hold sacred. Ive been noticing lately how bothered I get when my clients push, push, push.  When they force themselves to work overtime. When they dont create space to recharge their batteries. When they dont step away from their business at all. I tell them to take a break. To not look at emails all weekend. To put a work-free vacation on the calendar, even if its just for a couple days. To go play and create and read, sans pressure for productivity. I tell them to trust themselves and the foundation theyve created. That the work will be there when they get back. That their audience will be there when they get back. That nothing will break and nobody will die and everything theyre working for wont disappear. And yetI rarely follow that advice myself. I recently took 2 weekdays to go to Sesame Place with my family. It was an incredible trip and will give me a lifetime of happy memories. What would have made it better? Not bringing my computer (so I can do work at night and in the morning), not checking emails (sure, I had my out of office set up, but I still *had* to reply to my clients, right?), and getting Facebook off my phone (but I had 2 groups starting that day! I needed the app to moderate!). So now, I take a deep breath and say: Im taking a break. I wont be blogging or newsletter-ing until early October. Between now and then, youll only see Women of the World  announcements  (up next: Jodi Womack on Momentum!).  Basically, Ill just be here  to let you know about Events That Are Happening. Thatll be it til then. I also commit to saying No to anything thats asked of me in August and September. If its not on my calendar, its not happening. I also solemnly swear to have work-free days (not being in Facebook groups, not checking or answering work emails, not having calls) from Sept 1-Sept 6, with the exception of my Its Business Time  group call. Im gonna have a long weekend like the normal people (aka employees) do. Imagine that.
